Junior SectionWelcome to the COHC Junior Section. Youth hockey at City of Oxford Hockey Club continues to go from strength to strength, and our recent successes stand as a testament to the quality of players and coaches alike. The junior section has been running since 2000, and now
consists of
four teams (U14 Boys and Girls, U16 Boys and Girls), playing in the
Oxfordshire Junior League. We also enter a number of tournaments at U8,
U10 and U12 age levels, for both sexes. Furthermore, a number of our
juniors regularly represent Oxfordshire at county level, bringing
further playing experience into their teams. In early 2007 we achieved England Hockey Clubmark status, which certifies our position as a child-friendly club. All of our lead coaches hold England Hockey Coaching Awards, and are CRB checked to ensure their suitability for working with young people. There is now much more club information in our Documentation section. All players, old and new, should read the Welcome Pack. We will also need, each season, a Parental Consent and Medical Form to be completed. We recommend that the Codes of Conduct for Players and Parents/Spectators are also read. We are always looking for new players of any ability;
including
complete beginners. Our junior membership prices are the cheapest of
any Oxford-based hockey club, and the fact that all committee members
are volunteers helps to keep our costs as low as possible. Details of our training sessions are as follows:
The 2006-7 season was our most successful yet, with our U13 Girls and U11 Boys winning the Oxfordshire County tournament. Our U11 Girls also put in a terrific performance, reaching their final of the same tournament. Please see the photos below.
